Explore our open gardens each weekend.

From October to Mothers Day weekend in May, River Gardens Axedale is a blaze of color and perfume. Visitors thrill at the sight of roses, salvias, lavender, cosmos, bearded iris and more.

River Gardens Axedale opens our gardens to the public periodically from the first weekend in October to Mothers Day weekend in May each year.

Open 10:00am - Close 4:00pm

Rose Gardens are open most weekends during the months of October, November, December, January, March, April and to Mothers Day weekend in May.

Gardens Admission: Adults $8 - Children Free
Devonshire Tea: $7.50

Club and Coach Special: Admission + Devonshire Tea with bottomless cup of tea or coffee: $13

Note: Minimum of 20 visitors required for Club and Coach special deal. Club and Coaches welcome 7 days from October to May - Bookings are essential.

Open Gardens Central Victoria

The Bendigo and Central Victoria region has some lovely private gardens which are opened to the public periodically throughout the year.

The Zonta Club of Bendigo regularly promotes open gardens as a fund-raiser.

The village of Redesdale has an open gardens weekend in March along with their Bush Market.

The thriving town of Castlemaine has a bi-annual Festival of Gardens which sees gardens opened to the public from Castlemaine to Maldon and surrounds.

Heathcote and Wedderburn have also had open garden days.

Private gardens which are regularly open in the area include Sally's Garden in Bendigo and Mica Grange near Sutton Grange.

The City of Greater Bendigo readily promotes their beautiful public gardens at Rosalind Park, the Botanic Gardens at White Hills and the Conservatory Gardens in Park Road.

The Conservatory was built in 1897 and is said to be the last building of its type in a public park in Victoria.

About Us

River Gardens Axedale is a family owned and operated Boer goat and cropping farm on the banks of the Campaspe river in central Victoria. Luxury B&B accommodation is available on the property.

Accommodation was purpose built and opened in 2015 as a Bendigo and Heathcote B&B Farm Stay. River Gardens Axedale is just minutes from local wineries, cellar doors and vineyards.

Rose Gardens were opened to the public in April, 2019. Gardens are open most weekends from October to May.

Hosts are Jennifer and John Abbott.
